New Member Monday: No Clever Subtitle Today I'm Afraid

We may have to start some kind of 'friends and family' reward system soon - so many of you are pointing your buds in our direction that we're getting this fantastic clusters of blogs.  We're also breaking through the 'GW barrier' that surrounds the part of the blogoshpere we started out in. It's like that one episode of Star Trek only with blogs instead of mysterious negative energy and hot alien babes... actually its nothing like that.  The point is that were getting a good base of non GW centered blogs and the idea pool is getting deeper.  Good times.

It was another week of solid essays despite the fact that we tell we'll ignore it.  The best of this bunch came from Mik of Mik's Minis.  More than any one else this week, Mik most captured the intended spirit of the essay question.  Also he gardens.

I am God’s gift to the internet because I am completely narcissistic and could care less about other blogs, it’s all about me. That’s why my blog is named after me. My name is Mik and so is my blog. I’ve been blogging for three years, am pushing 200 followers, and have over seven hundred posts to boot. Seven hundred. It’s not a 40k blog, it’s not a WHFB blog, it’s not dedicated to any one aspect of geeking whatsoever, it’s all over the map. I put gardening and recipes under the key words and that was no joke, I garden, I cook, I paint minis, I make terrain, I play games…all kinds of games. I also have insightful tutorials to tell the masses how they can do all of the above as well, so they can be just like me. I’m an adult, I don’t live in mom’s basement, I have a hot non-gamer wife, and I keep things fun and entertaining. I think George Lucas is the worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars and I harbor incredibly dark thoughts when it comes to reality television. I run the Barter Bucket for bits trading over at Santa Cruz Warhammer and I am one of the hosts of the award-winning show Minions of the Monster Master, an explicit gaming podcast in its second season with nearly thirty episodes under its belt. I game in the following genres; prehistoric, ancients, historical periods from dark ages to the second world war, modern, horror, near-future, far future, superhero, and fantasy. I also game across many scales; 6mm, 15mm, 25mm, and the occasional 40mm. My friends and I play a lot of tabletop games but also play tons of boardgames as well as a healthy amount of roleplaying games. My blog reflects all of this I’ve spoken on, and more. I’ve looked at other blogging hubs, frankly they do nothing for me, I like the style here at the House of Paincakes.
