The Weekly Top X - Wavy Gravy

Brent: Well, here we are again, Lauby my man, you and me, together again for Top X here at the House of Paincakes.
Lauby: Indeed, mt good chum.  Though it was nice to let some other people take the reigns while Brent and I got our asses kicked at our respective jobs.
Brent: Yup, so right. Synn and Loq did a bang up job. Sooooooo...
Lauby:  ... they did too good a job.
Brent: ...how the hell are we supposed to follow that? They had a party, and women, and talent - what have we got?
Lauby:  The great equalizers, Brent.  Experience and a poor sense of self preservation.
Brent: If you say so.

We're just like hobos, really.
1) Roll With It - Coming of Age
Brent: When did I grow up? I’ll let you know when it happens.
Lauby: No, no, no Brent.  It's plain for all the world to see that you and I are still, basically, man-children.  When did you 'grow-up' as a hobbyist?
Brent: As a player, I can’t say I know. As a Blogger, life definitely began for me at the first BolsCon. I created Strictly Average primarily to outline my efforts for that event... which is ironic, considering nobody read it until much later.
Lauby:  I'm not sure that's actual irony.  But what evs.

2) The Chaosgerbil's Lair - Chaosgerbil’s TSHFT report, and “Counts As” philosophy rant
Lauby: Unlike other bloggers, ChaosGerbil has decided that doing an event report a post at a time just isn't worth the risk of never finishing it.
Brent: Shooo! I’m still reading!
Lauby:  And you will be for a looooong time.
Brent: Still reading - hey! Stop looking over my shoulder. I can’t read like that.
Lauby: Sorry.  I was checking out the comments.  Redemptive!
Brent: Now I have to start over. *sigh*
Lauby: Oh well, I'm proud of you for stating on focus so long.  I'll have to add it to the baby book.
Brent: Hey! What’s this? ‘Torg’s Blog?’ Let’s take a look...

3) Miniature Wargame Conversions[Rogue Trader] Space Marine the review
Brent: Very well done, very well done indeed. I enjoyed Adam Harry’s (I like me some Adam Harry, I do!) on Bell, what with the video of multiplayer gameplay... but in many ways this was equally useful.
Lauby: Yeah, this review touches on a lot of the things that can get overlooked.  I like that.
Brent: Yup! For my part, Marcus made it accessible. He gave me practical information about level progression how the mechanics worked in multi-player.
Lauby: I had actually written this game off because I didn't realize it was on the PC.  I may have to remedy that.  Thanks, Marcus!
Brent: Hey! Why isn’t Strictly Average on the blogroll. Lauby, why haven’t you taken care of this for me?
Lauby:  Don't care,watching the trailer.

4) Iron Mammoth's Studios - Tools: Super Glue
Lauby: Everything you wanted to know about super glue (but were afraid to ask).
Brent: Well, I didn’t know there was so much to learn about superglue! What’s funny - not in a ha-ha! way, mind you - is all those years of holding together models that JUST WOULDN’T FUCKING SET.
Lauby: Woah. Slow down there, Brent.  Let's not get all Mel Gibson here.
Brent: Sorry. I had a moment. Thankfully I discovered accelerator, which I simply swear by.
Lauby: Not me!  I prefer my bonds to be as strong as possible.  If only it were WWII still... I could make a great war bonds joke right here.
Brent: (Can I say ‘fuck’ in the House of Paincakes?)
Lauby: Fuck yeah you can.

5) The Army Collector - I've got your point devaluation right here
6) The Army Collector - Depreciating Value, Round Two
Brent: I have to say, Lauby, your picks this week are pretty great!
Lauby: Why thank you, Brent.  That means a lot to me.  Because as it turns out, picking the posts for the Top X is the hard part.  I gotta dig through as much stuff as possible and the HoP has something like 320 blogs now.  Which means I gotta do a LOT of reading.  The big challenge is just making sure I don't focus too much on the well known and the big boys.
Brent: (Geez, when is he going to stop talking?)
Lauby: What really made my day about your compliment is how hard I try to pick posts that are well written AND interesting all while trying to include non GW games.  So again - thanks, Brent.
Brent: (I didn’t know a compliment would do this. Crap.)
Lauby: ... Ahem.
Brent: Oh, man Lauby - I didn’t know you were done talking! Uh, can you catch me up a bit?
Lauby:  I said "Thanks".
Brent: Well, this Robb dude hit on a great idea, and I personally would love to see this book. Does anyone have a... er, ‘portable’ copy?

7) iNecromancer - Battle Rep #1: Dindrazi vs Directorate vs Soryllians
Brent: Ha! Did you notice they said they did a 3-way? *snicker!*
Lauby: Well, another entry for the baby book - "Brent went 7 posts before giggling lick a school girl when something vaguely sexual was mentioned."
Brent: Hey - I resent that. Not really - do you think they were at Synn and Loq’s party? Not sure how I missed that one.
Lauby: Uh... you weren't invited.  It wasn't your standard problem of not listening, it was simply-
Brent: I was too listening. Look, Lauby old chummers, I enjoy reading a well-written blog post, even if it is a game I don’t personally play. It just has to include...
Lauby: Pictures (in this case, some very cool ones)
Brent: ...pictures. I’m a man who needs pics! Speaking off, about that party...
Lauby:  Yeah, all the attendees were sworn to secrecy.
