The Weekly Top X: Now with 50% More Commentator

As a result of the last Top X we did, Brent and I got cocktails named after us.  Not to put too fine a point on it, but we now have high expectations from all of this weeks featured authors.  Like maybe some of them will get Brent and Lauby tattoos or re-name there kids after a fictional character of our choosing.  Our Cult of Personality grows larger each day!

In less insane terms, the response we get to the Top X had been growing and its the kind of thing that keeps us warm at night.  So thanks, everyone!

1-3) 3++ Is The New Black - Collecting an Army in One Month: part 1, part 2 & part 3
Brent: Lauby was set to write the opening but I deleted him... I’m stealing your spot, Lauby! ~and I'm drinking your milkshake.... That’s how excited I am about this series of posts: quite simply, it’s pretty damn epic. This would be on a Top X best of all time list. Right behind the Storm Buster, the Dyson Pattern Storm Raven, of course!
John: I’ll get you for this, you son of a bitch! In the meantime: one army in one month? Yikes. Normally, when someone says speed painting it also means shit painting. Let’s just all go ahead and admit that we’re jealous of what was accomplished in the speed and with the skill involved.I  don’t like to throw the word ‘epic’ around, so I won’t. I think I’ll go with ‘tremendifulous’’ instead.


4) Double 0 Sven - The Whole Damn Thing
Brent: This is a strange blog, but I fully support the decision to add it to the Top X. In case you folks didn’t realize, Lauby and I (mostly Lauby!) choose blogs based not only on our own, super-secret Top X rubric but also with an eye toward bringing you unique and interesting content you may not have seen before. There are a lot of great blogs churning out worthwhile daily content... but those are fairly well known. Here’s an offering that’s honestly like nothing else out there... can you describe it, Lauby?
John: For the life of me, I can’t. And I tried, dammit! I went through those archives for forever. All I can say is that this is amazing for so many reasons. Not only is there a long-running narrative, but all that terrain has been lovingly made for the project as well. Oh, and the puns!  The fantastic puns.  Its glorious and more than a little bit crazy (in a good way). Be sure to poke through the archives as well. There’s just so much stuff there and its so linked that we couldn’t pick a single post to represent the whole lot.

5) World of Wonder - [Weekly Whimsy] Dark Thoughts
Brent: Ah, I remember this place! Loquacious is a mother-gamer with many interests. Particularly interesting is the rpg content, which is a recent blogging interest Lauby shares. As with my recent video, cross-circulation geekdom tour, I think we’ll all start seeing folks branch out and chat about their other hobbies.
John: Its good to be dynamic. It keeps you from getting into ruts and keeps you from being that boring guy who only talks about one thing. Who then ends up friendless and alone. Who then dies. Alone. True story! Back to the subject at hand, my Special Lady Friend only had a comment on how Lelith needed to shave regularly. So double bonus points to Loquacious for moving past both genders’ typical knee-jerk reaction.


6) HERO's Gaming Blog - What's Good in Dark Eldar
John: the Dark Eldar re-release is exciting on a lot of levels. Not only are we talking a brand new codex after a decade long wait, but we’re also looking at the beginnings of an entirely new model range. Really, its almost like its an entirely new race at this point. As a result, people are out of there minds for information and analysis. So stuff like this is great.  What gets me, is that HERO sat down with the book ONE TIME and banged out this stuff. I can barely do this with the books I actually own and can reference at my convenience. I’d be more than willing to try and pry his notebook out of his cold dead hands.
Brent: What you said! On Friday I gave the Dark Eldar book a cover-to-cover read, but I can’t say I’ve come close to digesting it on the level this dude did. It’ll be a while before I figure out the route I want to go. This post is a nifty place to start.


7) 40k for the New Professional - Tyrannofex!
Colin: I love Tyranids, what can I say? I also love Kennedy’s blog and am pumped to see him updating it frequently again. This week he’s given us a twist on your normal conversion article by not only showing the conversion, but creating a bulleted step-by-step guide (as Kennedy is oft wont to do) to setting about damn near any conversion. Now if only somebody would do a Tyrannofex that really plays on the idea of T-rex gimpy arms. I’m talking like Hormagaunt arms on a Trygon model gimpy.

And with Dethtron's special appearance, we're are at the unfortunate end to this weeks love fest.  I'm just gonna go ahead and declare that this post is wildly successful and that anyone who disagrees is probably a filthy jaywalker.  See you next week!  - Lauby
