9 New Members this past Monday and 9 Top X picks?! It'd be fate if it weren't for the simple fact that I fudged the Top X part. Like anyone would believe that it was just serendipity that I happened to only picked 9 posts anyways.
Anywho, it's symmetrical. Like book ends. Kind of. Except for Saturday and Sunday. Hey! Look over there!!
1) Incarias Speaks - Warhammer Fantasy: My Reactions to the New Empire
Every time a new army comes up the ol’ tubes immediately get clogged up with people trying to be the first one to comment on it. Actually, it occurs to me that I am being a dick. The point is that this post by Incarias is so much more than a simple look at new kits. There’s a real commentary on how 8th edition is shaping up and it’s worth your time.
2)Warhammer In Progress - Ideal-Ideas #1 - Spawn
This is what I call a Top X value added feature. A post about more posts. I could stop now and this would technically be a 8 count Top X. To bring us back to the point of this entry: Warhammer in Progress has collected a bunch of cool homegrown spawn and were not moving on until you look at all of them. Speaking of Tenuous links to William Blake, this is also a fantastic link back to our latest Gaming on a Budget post since it was also pretty spawn-tastic.
3) Elfen Stuff Up - The League Gets... Bloody
When it comes to battle reports, I think there are two main paths to success. Extremely detailed and riddled with pictures or concise and self reflecting. This post is the later. Also of note is that holy shit the place this dude plays has some nice terrain.
4) The 40k Project - New Games Workshop texture paints review and first look
Little by little info on the new Citadel paints has been making it’s way onto the internet. Dalinair here has a wonderful review of the textured paints (one of the clear wins for the new line) replete with plenty of actual examples derived from actual testing. Also: pictures!
5) IDICBeer - Necron Scarab Farm - 63 Scarab Bases Done!
Holy balls!
6) Crosser Modelling - Garden of Morr Regiment Fillers
I’m always a fan of cool unit fillers for Warhammer Fantasy. They break up the monotony of the hordes, they sidestep the grim reality of your models being glorified wound counters and they save money. All while being awesome. Speaking of awesome, you should probably just go ahead and click on the link already.
7) Table Top Fix - Bigger Than BoLS Give-Away
Tabletop Fix needs some comment love. You get a chance to win some pretty cool swag for your trouble. What’s not to love?
8) Colonel Scipio's Palladian Guard - News from the Front Line
Not too much to say about this one. Naw, I’m just kidding. This thing is chock full of awesome! Super rad IG conversions, turbo sweet boarding party action and enough hazard stripes to make the Iron Warriors jealous. Or ‘jelly’ if you’re a pre-teen girl. In which case: what the hell are you doing here?!
9) When Cannons Fade... - 32nd Inquisitorial Guard – I salute you!
It was a toss up between this post on the ill fated inquisitorial dudes or the super rad space wolves that this fine expat from Coventry recently finished. I went with the guardsmen because I have pretty much the exact same problem with letting things go. However, if you live in Chicago this amazing squad can be yours.
