FoW Supplemental: Battlefront keeps the party going

Hey folks, SinSynn here.

Flames of War players continue to bask in the glow of new releases from Battlefront, and the next few months are going to see some interesting things hit the shelves.

Blood, Guts, and Glory is on the way, and with it comes a veritable plethora of new kits.
American players are getting pretty psyched up for new Jumbo Shermans and Easy Eight's. The basic Sherman kit is also seeing a makeover, and the Ultimate Rival is already planning his THIRD tank company as a result.
For my part, I look forward to blowing all these things up, and I'll be getting new lists to do do it with.
Battlefront has yet to announce a new kit for the Jagdtiger....but here's hoping.
;)

*For every one Allied tank it destroys, it scares another dozen to death*

There's also a new Armored Rocket Launcher Battery coming. The Panzerwerfer 42 box set will come complete with four RL Halftracks (Panzerwerfer or Vielfachtwerfer variants). Command SMG Teams are included with their rides- a Kubelwagen (basically a German Jeep) and Kfz 15 (a fancy staff car for the Command Team).

This is kind of a big deal, as previously this was a handful of disparate models one had to purchase.
Now we get it in one nice kit.

The RL Halftracks are one solid piece, and they come built into large base. The base is decorative, and has five holes around the vehicle, into which plug the extra crew.Extra crew is a five point upgrade to each vehicle you buy in the platoon, which makes each RL count as two.
Pretty good upgrade, but you need nine or more Launchers to get a Devastating Bombardment, which uses a special, gigantic template.
Sigh.

*A sneaky- peek from the Battlefront Website*

The Panzerwefer is one of those things that looks pretty cool, and is available in many Axis lists. Unfortunately, the lack of a kit meant most Axis players (including myself) would just buy three Nebelwerfers, and call it a day. Buying the Panzerwerfer platoon separately was just inconvenient, and a lil' expensive.
Battlefront saw a hole in the lineup, and they filled it. That's what's up.

Battlefront vehicle kits are consistently top-notch. Each vehicle is a unique sculpt, which makes the platoon less cookie-cutter in appearance. Blister-pack vehicles are identical. I have the Tiger and Jagdpanther kits, and I can tell 'who's who' in my platoons at a glance, because each one is that different from the other.
The same thing applies to all Battlefront kits, which makes them more than just a 'money saving' deal.

Yes, the tiny fenders and hatches are annoying. If you've never dealt with a 15mm model before, prepare to have your patience tested. Once you get the hang of them, though, they're only slightly more annoying than 28mm models. The parts are just that much harder to find when dropped.
;)

The first thing I noticed on the Armored Rocket Launcher webpage was...instructions!

Now when I say instructions, I mean instructions. Not a lil' line diagram with arrows. Real, genuine instructions. You are NOT fixing a mistake with a 15mm model- once a piece is glued to another piece, it's a wrap. The online instructions for the Panzerwerfers are explicitly clear as to what tiny doodad gets connected to which miniscule whatsit, and that includes 'who goes on which base.'
I kid you not, previously you had to look at the pictures on the box and online to try and figure some of these things out.
Hallelujah!

*Now I'll put the right guys on the right bases*

I was happy to see the detailed instructions for the Armored Rocket Launchers at the webpage, and I'm crossing my fingers for a printed page with the kit. Online instructions are nice, and that's a big step in the right direction for Battlefront, however.

Every month, it seems Battlefront is pumping out new kits, new terrain, and army lists in PDF form. A quick look at the Flames of War home page shows that the Armored Rocket Launcher kit is just one of the many things they've got going on.
The past few months have been a rush, and FoW has seen terrific improvements. It's unbelievable that Blood, Guts and Glory should follow so quickly behind Grey Wolf and Red Bear, but I sure as hell ain't complaining.
Rumors of new Army Sets for each nation, and the older books getting updated/consolidated for Version 3 make me happy, as well.

...I still can't believe I'm like, happy. I keep waiting to for the other shoe to drop, or something. I'm not used to regular infusions of good news.
Oh, look...they're updating the PDF's for Version 3....
<3
I think I could get used to it, though. Pretty sure I'll get happy, each and every time, too.
Big ups and thanks to Battlefront. Flames of War Version 3 has literally busted outta the gate, and hit the ground running.

Until next time, folks- Exit with Catchphrase!
