Hey folks, SinSynn here.
During my interminable stay on this miserable globe, I've notice many strange, recurring behavior patterns you Humans exhibit.
For example, every year around this time, you like to look back, and reflect upon what has occurred during your previous Terran calender year.
Also, you like to hand out meaningless awards.
*I purchased these on E-Bay*
While I find these ritualistic fiascoes a tad curious (why do you clap for 'best sound production in a foreign short film'? Because that part of the show is over?), in all honesty I find most of what Humans do to be inexplicable.
*shrug*
If everything goes according to plan, well...it's all moot, anyway.
*Evil Xenos cackle*
*shrug*
If everything goes according to plan, well...it's all moot, anyway.
*Evil Xenos cackle*So I figgered, what the hell? If they're giving out an award for 'best actress in an Adult Film,' why can't I give out awards for...anything I darn well please?
Author's Note: For the record, I was snubbed for 'best Xenos performance in a Tentacle Hentai' for the THIRD TIME.
The Academy has it out for me, I tell ya!
I've started production on 'Alien Implants IV: The Probening,' so...cross your fingers for next year!
We've got a great script, and most of the cast from the first Alien Implants have returned to reprise their original roles...
WELCOME TO THE FIRST ANNUAL SINNY'S.

*Except that one girl...*
Where was I?
Right...Tentacle Rape.
...
No, wait...that wasn't it...
Oh yeah!
The Sinny Awards...
So anyway, these awards are a 'tip of the hat' to all the things I enjoyed, or thought were cool, or funny, or sucked in our collective Hobby this past year.
Unlike most stupid Terran Award ceremonies, I'll start with the big one:
Da Biggest Thing Last Year!
We've got two winners in this category:
GW Hate.
Whether it was Dread(ful)fleet, Finecast, cost increases, a community divided between WAACers and FAACers, the mess that Fantasy has become, or heck, maybe you just live in Australia, this award is a gimme.
Everywhere you looked, it seemed, people were growing resentful. That opened the door for our co-winner...
Cheating on GW.
Imagine 40k is like, yer ol' lady.
You love her, right? But...y'know...at this point yer bangin' her with the lights off, once a week...like, on Tuesdays or sumpthin.'
Then one night you bump into that crazy hot chick you've been seein' around town, and you get yerself some strange.
Oh, damn...you feel guilty. You love yer ol' lady.
But it was so good...you find yerself thinking 'bout that hot chick alla time. Even on Tuesdays.
Worse yet, you find yerself noticing that there's all kinda of hot chicks, just flitting about, all over the place.
Oh, man...it isn't even fair. What are you gonna do?
Now imagine if the ol' lady...was cool with it.
What if she would always be there for you, no matter where you strayed to?
Cheating on GW is the new hotness...what are you waiting for?
You don't even really hafta feel guilty about it...
;)
Coolest Thing This Year:
The lil' guy blows up!
Privateer Press, Wyrd, Corvus Belli, Battlefront, Spartan Games, even Battletech seems to be making a comeback...
2011 seemed to be a year when a lot of smaller companies managed to leverage the burgeoning disgruntlement amongst the GW community to their advantage, seemingly.
Or, maybe they earned it, with good games, cool models and some new marketing techniques.
Rulesets and other sundry stuffs available free online, active forums, regular updates including expansions and new models...
...Actually, maybe they're not 'new' marketing techniques, we're just surprised...cuz we're used to GW.
...sigh.
Well...
DON'T YOU JUDGE ME!
It wasn't exactly their best year...
Still, I gotta give them a nod in the 'Coolest Thing' category for:
Dark Eldar and Necrons...and maybe Grey Knights.
Ok, maybe DE technically released in November 2010, and maybe GW released the hated Grey Knights in between them and Necrons...and maybe Grey Knights are...okay, if you like that kinda thing.
And yeah, maybe some of the fluff is a lil wacky in GK, and they did a flip-flop on 'Crons fluff as well...
But, damn, they still make the coolest friggin' minis around.
GW also wins a special award:
The Don't Sleep On Me Award.
With 6th Edition 40k, new Codexes for the Tau, Chaos and others (Eldar? Black Templars?) all rumored to be on the way, 2012 could be the year GW reminds everyone who the big dog is.
One good 'Black Box' release is all it would take for us to forgive them a lot of their past transgressions...
'Blood Bowl Re-Dux? I friggin' LOVE you, GW!'
...or, y'know...the Mayans could be right, and we're all screwed, so...
Anything could happen, I guess...Let's hope for the best, shall we?
...I sure can't wait to see what they do with that 'Hobbit' license...
...sigh.
THE SINNY'S- BEST OF THE WEB.
The 40k Sites
3++
What can you say about Kirby and crew? From list advice, to in-depth Codex Reviews and more.
They've bought new writers into the fold to expand their hobby coverage to systems other than 40k in recent times, and they've got the Chatbawx, cool new content several times daily, and well...
a whole lotta Pink.
The Back 40k
Sandwyrm, TheGraveMind, Fampunk, Spaguatyrine and company do everything from 'Tactical Talk' to scratchbuilding awesome armies, and they do it so darn well.
While they, too, have been 'cheating on 40k,' this site is an essential stop no matter what these cats are up to.
Galaxy in Flames
Oofah....lookit this: 'From House Rules to homebrew units and Fandex's' is right there in the description. Pretty models, cool mods, painting and modeling stuffs...what more could you ask for?
It's da awesome, is all.
The Xenos Blogs
Rant in E Minor
Well, if this just ain't the sexiest Eldar blog, like...ever.
Slick and smooth, with cool menus, and some of the most bad-ass Dark Eldar models you've ever seen.
Seriously, Sorrowshard is one of those painter that just makes you feel inadequate, and his Retro, Rant and Rave unit reviews are always a treat.reviews
'Shard represents. For realz.
Fritz 40k
The man is a legend among Xenos players.
The things he's written about playing an Eldar Jetbike army alone should be carved in friggin' stone and put on display at GW headquarters.
When he turns his devious Xenos mind to playing Tyranids, we find ourselves saying 'Null Zone deployment,' and following the leader, again.
Mid-Life Gaming Crisis
Ghostin is a Tyranid, Eldar kinda guy, and a thoughtful writer of rare charm. He may not post an awful lot, but when he does, it's worth checking out. His NOVA posts were angst-free, thankfully, and were the best of the bunch this year.
Special Xenos Award to:
Xenos and Proud
If the name alone doesn't do it for ya, go and read the introduction, and tell me this kid ain't cool.
Blogs like this are the reason I'm proud to be a Xenos player, and following the author's trials and tribulations with 40k (as well as his unjaded perspective), is just plain ol' bloggy goodness.
Go give this kid some followers....
Special Golden Tentacle Award To:
Abuse Puppy from 3++
40k Xenos Tactician of the year.
When he breaks it down, just take a knee and listen, folks. 'Nuff said.
The Hottest Train Wreck Award:
Bell of Lost Souls
Where else can a guy with an unhealthy obsession with goats post a friggin' army list, and get 300 plus comments of pure, unadulterated insanity?
Only in the same place the very same place he could subject you to 'Plastic Dudesmen' every goddamn week.
It's a riot, it's hysterical, it's da awesome...I love it.
Shoot me.
Cool Hobby Blogs:
Frontline Gamer
While it may have peaked recently with the 'Frontline Cat' series, this is still a darn fine blog.
;)
I should mention, of course, that House of Paincakes, and it's various contributors (and nuisances like myself), are ineligible for these awards....that just wouldn't be fair cuz we're so cool an' all.
Some of these blogs aren't even on our blogrolls...
AND WHY IS THAT?
Hey- if you got a blog, you should be here...
So here's a special award for my favorite blog that needs to be on here:
Fields of Armor
A small Flames of War blog with a 'can-do' attitude. It's always nice when a blogger shares not only his wins, but his losses as well.
There's not a lot of FoW blogs out there, but I really like this one.
Sure would like to see a few FoW blogs listed here at the House.
*Hint, hint*
So that wraps up the Sinny Awards...hope you enjoyed the show...
If not...
Right...Tentacle Rape.

Seriously, this guy wrote one of the year's best posts with 'Is the Imperium a Metaphor for Games Workshop,' and that's just the beginning. Great product reviews on a wide variety of games, terrain, models and just...so much more.
He's also an 'honorary knucklehead' award winner, as well as credit to our hobby.
Porky's Expanse!
Do I even need to say anything here?
No, I don't think I do.
If you don't know, you better learn yerself...
Random Cool Stuffs:
Wobbly Model Syndrome
Iz funnie.
U shuld reed it.
:P
Musings of a Metal Mind
I wanna have this blogs baby.
And of course, knucklehead of the Year Award goes to:
Purgatus, from Best Overall.
