Writers Block.

I'm sitting here typing this without a clue about what I'm actually going to write about.

If this was my own blog I could do a post on an e-mail request for help (I get a few but normally just reply to them personally, rather than do a post on them), whichever army project I'm currently play-testing or some interesting new conversion or painting project I'm in the middle of......

This isn't my blog though.

I'm going to have to think of something interesting to talk about that fits into the 'editorial' mould that's expected of me and I'm reasonably sure inspiration is messing around somewhere else because it sure isn't anywhere near me right now, lol.

Of course I could just pick a dull subject and liven it up with some swear words,

Or failing that I could crowbar in a picture of Megan Fox in her underwear but then SynSinn would have nothing to write about for his article.

Okay, thats two pictures (one of which has a hot chick in it) and about a hundred and fifty words. That should be enough right?

No?

Slave Drivers.......

A great many people have blogs and there's a lot of great ones out there interspersed between a lot of average ones and a few bits of utter crap and of course there's the ones that sit in limbo for eternity because the originator doesn't have the time, inclination or the ideas to carry it on with anything approaching regularity.

You see it's not as easy as many people think it's going to be when they first start. The giant melting pot of ideas that you thought would sustain you for a year probably won't and a lot of those will be abandoned when somebody else does what you were going to do but unfortunately the bastard ends up doing it better than you possibly could...which is pretty annoying.

The other problem with continued and successful blogging is finding your own identity. The list advice thing pretty much belongs to Kirby (If you want a response without being called a twat) or Stelek (If you can stand the abuse, lol). Most of the depressingly good painters and converters have their own blogs and some of them are actually quite helpful as well which is annoying when your trying so hard to find a reason to dislike them for being better than you (Dave Taylor I'm talking about you...). This issue in particular can cause people to attempt to gain popularity through the adoption of an 'internet personality' in order to get some attention or by trolling a more successful blog with Bullshit comments in order to drive traffic towards their own little corner of the internet. Sustaining a personality that isn't your own isn't something I'd imagine as a particularly easy idea as I have enough problem coming up with ideas as myself let alone trying to maintain an alternate identity that's as much (or more of) a smart-arse as I am, lol. Of course greatly exaggerating your actual personality for dramatic effect is just fine* ;-)

* Well it better be or I'm in a lot of trouble...

Of course if your really awesome then you can ramble on about not being able to think of anything to write for long enough to turn it into an actual article.....but that kind of talent's a rare thing indeed...

Failing that you can always insert a question at the end of a half-arsed attempt at an article and hope that the commenters can fill the whole thing out for you a bit.....

While I'm thinking about it how do you lot keep yourselves motivated to write articles or features for your own blogs?

Any good ideas would be much appreciated ;-)
